Happy New Year!

Jena, Jack (Ori), Nashka, Oto. 

Puppies left home with 5.5 kg, now they weight over 8! They are playful and naughty and like to bite.
Jena was sad for several days, she cried and tried to find them every night. She's back to normal now, she enjoyed visiting Bled yesterday and barking at swans was a great fun.

And he won't be alone. He already made friends with collies. Good choice, two to heard, one to bark. 

On Saturday morning, just before Obelix left his pack, we took photos for information system DLVKOS. It was not an easy job, puppies were naughty and wet and dirty as they were playing on the grass, and they didn't like standing on the table at all. Of course, their place is under the table, isn't it? Obelix is already settled with his new family, with a 12-year old golden retriver called Girl. Odi is driving home just now. Oto is leaving on Wednesday, Onix on Thursday. Sweet Oda and furry Ori are still looking for new owners. There is quite some interest, but we are still the picky breeders. Our puppies are our children and we're very careful where they go. They should be treated as family members, that's for sure. We miss every one of them!

Friday is a good day for a visit or two or more. We invited kindergarten to meet Slovenian breed, kids were happy to meet the little ones, but totally impressed by their mother. A friendly dog Hanu came to say Hi. Puppies threw her the 'bow-wow-wow' welcome party, two of them hid under the car at first.  Plus Mr. Peter, the owner of the strong father of our puppies, came by to meet them before they leave. The big guy, Obelix, who is 1 kg heavier than others, is leaving tomorrow.

Yesterday was a remarkable day: puppies were micro chipped, vaccined and thoroughly inspected by two veterinarians. Oh boy they cried! They didn't even eat delicious treats they were offered, it was far too stressful. Their blood samples will be sent for genetic analysis, to support DLVKOS in their great efforts of breeding healthy dogs with good genetic distance.

In the afternoon, puppies got a visit from my father-in-law. He is actually quite afraid of the dogs, but ours looked friendly and fluffy and he encouraged himself to pet one.

It looks like 4 boys already have the new owners, one is traveling to Netherlands again. To see how big sister Nashka is doing. By the way, she is a great nerd, she just finished her Social Behavior and Obedience - level 8! course. She's very playful, friendly and loves to please. Her mom is so proud!

So far Ori, my husband's favorite - as he is strong, furry and playful, is still available, and my sweet baby girl Oda is also waiting for her new owners. My great desire is that Oda goes to a family who would love to have puppies on their own, so if you're interested in breeding this unique and endangered breed - there are only app. 700 dogs in the whole world, you're welcome to visit us.

We are the best in socialization, indeed. We beg all our friends to come and cuddle our puppies. You'd guess, they hardly say yes and suffer a lot letting small creatures lick their fingers and bite their shoes. Just kidding, they all can't wait to visit. Can you see this big boy smiling?!

Six puppies, six weeks. On Saturday we opened our door to curious friends who would love to cuddle the sweetest little creatures on Earth. The joy is mutual!

You already know our beloved karst shepherds eat as kings. By now they chew 1 kg of raw meat in one meal, and since we started with 3 meals a day at age 5 weeks, they sleep all night long. Alarm is set at 5:45, when it's time for Jena to nurse them. They're not keen on chewing bones yet, they find my crutches much more delightful, not to mention fingers or clothes. Besides that, they are extremely good puppies and didn't even complain when taking the pill against internal parasites.

For their birthday, they got their first collars. They look good on them.

First rain. Puppies didn't mind at all, but their human-mom panicked and carried them under the roof, squeezing them into towel. The next day she stuck them into basket. Grrr.

Week 4: starting puppies on solid food is a very important part of their physical development, so we make sure we do it right. We can't go wrong with eco raw meet, can we? They loved it!

Puppies are 3 weeks old. To celebrate, we carried them out. They explored the big world, fell asleep soon and cuddled with their mommy.

On day 16 puppies started playing with each other. The very next day their teeth came out. So much joy for our family!

It's a boy! Actually, it's 5 boys and 1 girl! They were born yesterday, on July 19, and they are the prettiest little puppies ever.

It's the final countdown! Where to hide?

Is there really just one puppy in this belly?!

Pregnancy: day 56. we started measuring temperature and monitoring her food bowl: did she eat anything today, has she started looking for burrow? Sweet expectation!

A wonderful male Izi has been my crush for ages. I am glad Jena shared my excitement.

Jena is grandma! Her daughter Lana gave birth to 9 puppies: 6 girls and 3 boys. They're just too sweet.

It feels so good to see our puppies among the winners! 

On this Sunday, April the 24th 2016, there was a high level CAC Special dog show for Karst Shepherds, organized by the DLVKOS, the main organization for Karst Shepherds. Naka won in Junior Class,his brother Nort won second prize. Congrats!

Jena stayed home, as her owner (me) is wearing crutches and can't run, so she has to run after my children ;)

Jena is very proud of her babies. They are turning 1 year soon and already won several beauty awards.Congratulations to Naka who won one just yesterday!
